Ourmission
In Sanskrit, stana (स्तन) means "breasts".
In Slavic, it means "to stand."
For so long, women have been trying to prove we're as fast, strong, and capable as men. In that pursuit, we got scared to show our differences. But we are different. That doesn't make us less. It does, however, require products, research, and training optimised for us.
Too many products are labelled for women but were always designed for men first, then "adapted."
So the question we're asking is:
What can women do, when men aren’t the benchmark?
Stana's sportswear is designed for women, and only women. Our aim is to increase women's participation and, just as importantly, their joy in sport, through better products and stories.
Howit's made
There is no such thing as a sustainable clothing brand. At Stana, we are intentional about our manufacturing choices:
- We work with European mills that focus on technical fabrics and have strong environmental credentials.
- All our fabrics are OEKO-TEX certified, meaning they're tested against thousands of harmful substances (including PFAS) and certified as safe for human health.
- Our clothes are made in a women-owned factory in Tunisia.
We'll continue to find ways to make clothes in a better way, and be honest about where we are.
Founderstory
Movement has been such an integral part of my life, for my physical, mental, and social health. When I couldn't find a sports bra that was supportive and looked good, I decided to create my own.
Despite the growth in women's sport, we're still participating at lower rates. I think a large part of that is how women are represented in sport. I didn't feel seen in the sports industry, and I wanted to change that.
For me, sport isn't about shrinking or even being the best. It is about joy and connection, with myself and with others. That's what I want Stana to inspire.
